What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a smooth gel filler that can be used to improve the appearance of skin without surgery.

How does it work?

Juvederm contains a substance called hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occuring substance in the body. Over time, the face loses hyaluronic acid. This causes loss of volume in the face and changes the way the face looks, causing furrows and folds to appear. Treatment with Juvederm helps replace the hyaluronic acid that has been lost and smoothes out the skin, reducing the furrows and folds in the skin.

Where can Juvederm be used?

Juvederm can be used to improve many different areas of the face. This includes smile lines (“parentheses”), the lines under the eyes (“tear troughs”), lines around the lips (“smokers lines”), and lines that extend from the corners of the mouth to the chin (“marionette lines”).

How long do the effects last?

There are 2 different formulations of Juvederm. The original Juvederm lasts approximately 3 months, while Juvederm XC lasts approximately 1 year.

Is Juvederm safe?

Since Juvederm is composed primarily of a substance that naturally occurs in the body, it is very safe. Skin reactions at the injection site are usually mild and temporary.
