What is Botox?
Botox is an injectable medicine that helps reduce certain wrinkles on the face.
How does it work?
Wrinkles form on the face due to repeated muscle contractions that occur with different facial expressions, such as frowning or squinting. At first, the wrinkles are only visible when the muscles are actively contracting, but as time goes by, the skin becomes less elastic and does not recover its normal contours. Botox blocks the nerve impulses to these muscles so that they contract less, reducing the wrinkles that form on the face.
Where areas can be treated with Botox?
Several areas of the face can be treated with Botox, including frown lines between the eyebrows (“11's”), wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes (“crow's feet”), and lines on the forehead (“worry lines”). How long do the effects last? The effects last about 3-4 months and vary from person to person.
Is Botox safe?
The doses used are very small, making Botox very safe. However, every medication has a possibility of side effects. During your consultation with us all of your questions will be answered so that together you can make an informed decision about whether Botox is right for you.
